Baby Dedication back to God (June 4, 2023)

Sermon Outline for Sunday, June 4, 2023

Pastor Andy Lambert

PASSAGES:  1 Samuel 1; Deuteronomy 6:7

We see in 1 Samuel 1 where Hannah dedicated Samuel back to God. Prior to these verses, Hannah prayed and asked God for a son, and IF God would grant, she would give her son back to Him. Down through the years, parents have followed this example and have dedicated our children back to Him. During time of dedication, we pray that God would use our children for His glory and His honor in whatever path He would choose for their lives.

Parents have a responsibility to love God with all their heart, soul and might, prior to dedication of their child back to God. Parents cannot just go through the motions with their Christianity, they must live the life. Parents must be right with God and live faithfully in studying the Word, praying, fasting, worshiping, serving, and practicing the disciplines of the faith.

Parents have another responsibility and that is to be examples for the Lord. They have to be the ones who sing praises to the Lord – not just in church, but also at home. They must be the ones who read the Bible for themselves and live it in front of not only their children, but all they come in contact with, because their children are watching. Some parents are good examples of what it means to be a Christian on Sunday, but those who dedicate their children should be ones who serve God the rest of the week as well.

Last, parents have a responsibility to be a trainer; we need to train at all times.
