The Power of the Holy Spirit

Sermon Outline for Sunday, April 25 & May 2, 2021

1 Corinthians 2:4 ESV

and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

Paul recognized if anything was to be accomplished it must be in the Power of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is very active int he life of the Believer.

• We have His Presence for Fellowship

• He is WITH You!

John 14:16 ESV

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,

• How wonderful it is to have His companionship with us throughout this life.

• We have His Protection from Foes

• He is BESIDE you!

John 14:17 ESV

even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

• He is every at our side to protect us.

Psalm 23:4 ESV

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

• We have His Power to Fight

• He is UPON you!

Acts 1:8 ESV

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Romans 8:31 ESV

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

• We are on the winning side if we are on God’s Team.

• We have His Place for Following

• He is BEFORE You!

Romans 8:14–17 ESV

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

• It is wonderful to know that you leader is always before you.

• I am thankful that the Holy Spirit is not FOLLOWING us but is going BEFORE us to lead the way.

• We have His Pleading in Forgiveness

• He is FOR You!

Romans 8:26–27 ESV

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

• We have His Possession to Fortify

• He has SEALED You!

Ephesians 1:13–14 ESV

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

• We are not our own, we have been bought with a price.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20 ESV

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

• We need to yield ourselves to the Power of the Holy Spirit

Romans 6:16 ESV

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
