Romans 8:28–29 ESV

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

To Determine a Persistent Effort

Mark 2:2–5 ESV

And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

a. These Four Men Were Concerned – They brought this man to Christ

b. These Four Men Were Creative – When they could not get in they refused to stop short of getting this man to Jesus.

To Desire a Positive Attitude

Proverbs 23:7 ESV

for he is like one who is inwardly calculating. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

a. In Your Meditation

Philippians 4:8 ESV

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

b. In Your Dedication

Philippians 4:13 ESV

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

c. We need to learn to say “I CAN” instead of saying “I CAN’T”.

To Display a Productive Example

Romans 14:15–17 ESV

For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

a. Be Careful with Your Liberties – Do not cause a believer to stumble because of your liberty.

1 Corinthians 10:23 ESV

“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.

b. Be Cheerful for Your Lord

1 Corinthians 10:30–31 ESV

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

To Demonstrate a Personal Love

Ephesians 4:1–2 ESV

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

a. Love Causes Us to Forbear (patiently wait)

b. Love Causes Us to Forgive

2 Corinthians 2:8 ESV

So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.
