Walk (and Talk) Worth of Your Calling

Pastor Andy Lambert   -

For the past few Wednesday night’s during Bible Study, we have been looking at “Strengthening Your Grip” with a focus on “Our Priorities”. We have talked about several things concerning our walk with God. The last thought from Wednesday, February 9, 2022 service was on “Being Relevant”. I want to just touch on a few thoughts from that service. Let’s start from the scripture:

1 Thessalonians 2:12-13 (ESV) ~ we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory. And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

There is a direct link between our talk and our walk – or there should be. In the society we live in today, it would be more appropriate to say between our social media post and our walk – or there should be.

With that being said, if we look back over the course of the Christian Church development, it was not the sinners who demanded that the Cross, the Blood of Jesus, or even Jesus be removed from church, but in fact, that came from within. Sure, those outside the church demanded that Christ be removed from the school house, the court house and other places, but who wanted Him removed from the Church House?

We find in the New Testament, during the ministry of Jesus, the church folks were the ones who didn’t want Jesus around; but who did? Angry young men, blind beggars, proud politicians, victims of demonism, and grieving parents just to name a few and they all got equal time at the foot of the Cross. This is the group that hung onto every word from the very mouth of the Son of God, from the very Word of God Himself.

Let’s be real about this, when we come into the House of God, it is not about who is singing what song, it is not about who is teaching the Sunday School Class OR who is playing what instrument on the stage. It is about WHO we are there to worship! Sure, we COULD allow those things to distract us from worship, but can we just be real, if we REALLY WANTED to worship, would we allow ANYTHING to get in the way? We must realize that we need to start walking in a manner worthy of the one who has called us into His kingdom. Quit talking or posting one thing and walking another way … we need to walk, talk, and post in a manner that is worthy of God!!!
