What are YOU doing to help the church?

Pastor Andy Lambert   -

Many times I hear from other pastors that they hear from church members/attendees, and of course I have heard the same, that “I can’t come to this church because of …”. You can fill in the blank, but it usually has something along the lines of the number of people or number of programs.

My question has always been, what are you doing about Church Growth (as in numbers) and Church Growth (as in spiritual)? Many times if we would get out of our comfort zone to be able to get into the spiritual trenches with our Pastor, we will see Church Growth (as in spiritual) and the numbers will follow. If you see a need as in programs or ministries, what are you doing to help get that program or ministry started or growing? The pews today in churches are definitely full of warm, comfort zone bodies that need to start stepping out in faith.

It has always amazed me how that everyone looks at the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000 with the loafs and fish, and boy what a miracle. But what about the miracle of those 5,000 walking to the church service and knowing that there would be no nursery, no coffee and doughnuts, no in-door plumbing, no kids or youth programs. Please don’t think I am bashing those programs, because I am not. I love the nursery, kids, and youth programs. I love the young adults and senior adult programs. I love the men and women programs. And for the record, my church folks already knows, I love coffee and doughnuts!!! But we must LOVE coming to hear about Jesus MORE!!!

If we don’t get out of our spiritual comfort zone, growth in our personal lives will never occur. It only standing to reason that if we are a part of a church family and individuals never grow spiritually, how is the church going to grow spiritually? We need that spiritual growth LONG BEFORE number growth comes into the picture.
