Prayer Meetings Across the Nation

Pastor Andy Lambert   -

CV FAMILY –

I just have a lot of thoughts going through my mind, just as many of you as well, concerning the great prayer movements that are happening across our nation and around the world. I have, just as you have, been seeing so many news articles and social media post from CHURCH FOLKS that are critiquing and arm-chair quarterbacking some decisions that are being made in relation to the prayer movements that is happening on college campuses. For what it is worth, here is my “two cents”.

I am not there! I am not in the shoes of those making the decisions and really don’t have all the information that those folks have. This past Sunday (February 19, 2023) I spoke some about this as well. I even brought up the fact that we find in the book of Acts chapter 2, when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they left the upper room and began to preach and folks were saved and added to the church. As much as I love seeing a prayer movement at these universities and colleges, I am more interested to see what happens next. What does that mean?

These prayer movements, in my opinion, are just SEEDS that has been planted, that can die and never produce anything from it, however, my prayer is that we see in the weeks, months and even years from now something extraordinary take place. I love seeing the young and older alike praying together, but I want to see what is coming next. If people allow God to continue to move in their lives, prayer brings REVIVAL! The biblical meaning of REVIVAL is to return something to life; to recover life; to bring again to life; to renew and refresh that which is dying; to bring into action something that has been suspended; to revive a project that has been laid aside. Weeks from now, if things go back to the way it was, we can NOT blame university leadership for what didn’t happen. We can NOT blame administration or police and security personnel that God didn’t move because of their actions. If we blame these people, then we are saying that they are more powerful than God is – WHY? Because no one on earth can stop something God is doing. When we get hungry and thirst after God, we will receive from God!!!

Some say that what the university and college leaderships are doing is limiting God from moving. My problem with that is – I am not there. I don’t know if those in leadership have prayed or not; I don’t know if leadership is following the direction from God or just a thought they have themselves. I don’t have their information. There have been plenty of times as a Pastor (even in a secular job) I made a decision based off the information I had in front of me and people got mad and said I wasn’t making the right decision. Some have even said I was limiting God, however, they don’t know that I prayed and was following the direction that God had given to me in that situation. So, my thoughts are, I am not in their shoes and they are not in mine. God placed me as the Pastor of Coosa Valley Church of God and NOT as the President of any university. I can’t say if anyone has made the right decision or not, all I can do is pray for those in leadership AND those that are involved in the prayer movement.

For those in leadership at the universities, colleges, and security – I pray that God gives wisdom and understanding for the next steps that is RIGHT for their situation and the “backbone” to stand by the direction given to them from God!

For those directly involved in the prayer movements – don’t stop praying!!! Continue to seek after God in all things. Prayer brings REVIVAL and our nation NEEDS REVIVAL!!! Take it to the local churches (which many have already been in a REVIVAL MOVEMENT!); take it to the streets; take it to the highways and byways; take it to your families and friends; take it to your work place – this prayer movement doesn’t need to stop, you need to follow the example from Acts and take it out from the upper room experience and let the Holy Spirit flow from you to all you meet!!!

For the record – Coosa Valley Church of God has already been experiences a revival movement and we need to continue to PRAY for God to continue to touch lives and break chains of bondage and sin. We need to continue in PRAYER for one another that REVIVAL will continue to happen, not only in our church services but also in the homes, in the families lives of each one connected to Coosa Valley and begin to spread into Pell City, Vincent, Eden, Riverside, Lincoln, Talladega and surrounding areas. God send the Revival fire of the Holy Spirit!! Change us, Revive us, Refresh us, Recover us, USE US!!!
