Do What We WANT To Do

Pastor Andy Lambert   -

CV FAMILY –

This is something I have said many times before and it is worth repeating … You are going to do what you WANT to do.

If the doctor tells you to cut fried foods out of your diet and you don’t WANT to, then you are gonna sneak fried foods into your meals when you can. You may fool everyone around you, but ultimately, you will be found out.

If you don’t have gas money to go to church, but you WANT to go to a ball game that is an hour away, you will find a way to get to that game.

Mankind has always found a way to do what he/she WANTS to do, but it is harder to do what is NEEDED in his/her life. When that is pointed out, say by the doctor, we get mad and defensive at that doctor, maybe not to their face, but behind their back. We blame the blood work or other test as being wrong. We are gonna keep doing what we WANT to do.

It is the same way with church and church “stuff” like changing our life styles. If the Pastor preaches on a life style change, we think in our minds that it is for everyone else besides us, we say “I wish SO-N-SO was here to hear that”. The change is for everyone else, besides us, because our situation is different. No one is facing anything like me. God really doesn’t want me to change, He likes me just like I am, the Bible says so. All of these are thoughts that have gone through many a church members head, but the fact is that God DOES want a change and we should WANT to change as well.

God wants good things for His children (Psalm 84:11 ~ “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”) and God does want our lives to change and be different than the world (Romans 12:1-2 ~ “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”)

So, the question for the day is, are you WANTING to make a change in your life today?
