Rise and Be Healed

CV FAMILY –

We are all aware of MANY connected to the Coosa Valley Church of God Family that are sick right now. Please know, this is not something to panic over. Sickness happens. We must trust and depend on God and His Word to help us get through this just like anything else we face in our lives and in the lives of our church family. Please hear me when I say, follow the directions of your doctor. You don’t want to do less or more than what they are telling you. What do I mean by this? If the doctor prescribes you medication – take it. Also, if they tell you to check your oxygen level, heart rate and blood pressure – check them. Follow the advice given by your doctor.

NOW – let’s get into what the Word of God tells us. When we read the Bible, we come face-to-face with the God of healing. There are 30 recorded cases of healing in the Old Testament and 38 in the New Testament. The word “heal” means “to save, mend, restore, cure, soothe and cleanse.” God spoke to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt and told them in Exodus 15:26 – “I am the Lord, who heals you.” God has revealed Himself through the covenant He has made with His children to be Jehovah Rapha, “The Lord Your Healer”.

There are powerful promises and principles of healing all throughout the Word of God and we need to speak these over our lives and the lives of all our church family, today more than before. Below are just a few of the scriptures I am asking each of you to read to yourself, over yourself and speak over our church family. We are getting rid of this sickness!!!

  • Psalm 103:3
  • Psalm 107:20
  • Proverbs 3:7
  • Malachi 4:2
  • Matthew 4:23
  • Matthew 8:17
  • Matthew 14:14
  • Luke 4:18
  • Acts 10:38
  • 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
  • James 5:16

The word healing means “a process of recovery.” To pray for healing, then, is to ask God for recovery power for some injury to the body, the mind or the spirit. People get disappointed when all their symptoms don’t instantly disappear when they pray because they don’t understand that healing takes time. God may require us to do something for healing to be complete. Prayer is not the only thing needed for healing. Often it has to be followed up with action steps of diet, exercise and treatment. Every person praying for healing needs to remember that we should never pray a prayer for healing, unless we are willing to be a part of the answer.

Healing takes place in an atmosphere of faith and love. Matthew 9:2 says that Jesus saw their faith. Galatians 5:6 says that faith expresses itself through love. The church is commissioned as a healing community, the body of Christ on earth. As a church, our essential ministry is healing – spirit, mind and body. Conditions needed for the church to be a healing community:

  • Unconditional Love – John 13:34-35
  • Unity of spiritual purpose – Acts 4:32
  • Unconditional Acceptance – Romans 5:7; Revelation 22:17
  • Compassionate Involvement – Galatians 6:2; Romans 15:1
  • Expectant Faith – I have the FAITH that you are going to be HEALED!

Healing works from the inside out. Matthew 9:2 also tells us that Jesus told the man, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven. He received a spiritual and mind healing prior to the physical healing. What is the greatest healing? The healing of the soul, of inside.

  • The healing of the soul from pain:
    • Hurt
    • Humiliation
    • Horror
    • Hate
  • The danger of repression
  • The inner healing work of the Holy Spirit – James 5:16

Healing often involves a Plan of Action. Matthew 9:6, Jesus tells the man to take up his mat and go home. We need to put our faith into action. James 2:17 says that faith, if not accompanied by action, is dead. We have to follow-up our prayers with action.

  • Moses put the branch to heal the bitter waters of Marah – Exodus 15:23-25
  • Elisha told Naaman to dip in the Jordan seven times – 2 Kings 5:10
  • Jesus told the lepers to go and show themselves to the priest – Luke 17:14
  • The woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of His garment – Luke 8:43-44
  • Peter and John took the cripple by the hand and said, “In the name of Jesus, rise and walk” – Acts 3:6-7

I am asking each of you to put your faith into action by reading the verses listed above and praying for healing for our entire church family. I have Expectant Faith that God is going to heal – how about you?
