Church Family

Pastor Andy Lambert   -

CV FAMILY –

This Tuesday, following Easter Sunday, there is a great deal on my mind. A great deal on my mind as a husband, father, Ordained Bishop in the Church of God, District Overseer for the Talladega District of the Church of God in Alabama, Pastor of a great church here at Coosa Valley Church of God and so many more titles I may hold (willingly or unwillingly) – there is a lot on my mind. I would like to share some of that with you this morning.

We have an AMAZING group of people here at Coosa Valley, a group of wonderful Christians that have come together to support one another, to pray for one another, to help one another and we do all of this as a church family. Part of that church family is a group of Sunday School teachers that spend time each week reading, praying and studying to get ready for the upcoming Sunday for a group of students, many of whom are your kids and grandchildren, will enter that room looking to hear what is going to be taught during class time. Part of this church family are those who help in the nursery, one of the many thankless jobs in the church that no one wants to do, but some do it anyway. Those in the nursery wipe noses and change dirty diapers; and they do this so someone else can sit in the sanctuary and be able to listen to the sermon and hopefully receive something that will encourage and change their lives. Part of this great church family are those who clean up both inside and outside of our building; everything from the toilet to the flower beds to the cemetery, week to week, needs to be taken care of just as much as it does at your own home. Another part of this church family is the Praise Team and Musicians; this group spends countless hours every week praying over and choosing songs, either Hymns or Praise Song, either brand new song or a classic, but the leaders of this group choose songs they have prayed over and work with the rest of the team during times of practice in order to lead the entire church body in Praise and Worship, so that the stage can be set for God’s Word to be delivered, either on Wednesday Evening Bible Study or Sunday Morning Sermon, in the hopes that during the song service or message something will encourage and help someone’s life. Yet another part of this church family is those who work with the Kidz and Teens Ministries each week; praying over, studying through, and working out lessons to help OUR Kidz and Teens in this crazy thing called life. The list can go on and one from the person who keeps records during Sunday School to the person who keeps the finances together and pays the bills to the persons that are a part of our Safety Team who watches out for each service making sure we all stay safe while worshipping together as a church family.

We do have an amazing church family. Whether or not you realize it or not, many, many hours go into every service prior to the start of that service; Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship and Wednesday Evening Bible Study each have countless hours prior to the start. I urge each of you to not take those hours for granted; not take for granted others that are a part of the same church family that you are a part of, let us not take each other for granted. A lot of time, energy and effort has gone into helping you, yes YOU, to be able to come into God’s House and Worship with a great church family that has been and will continue to pray for you, encourage you, support you and even at times comfort you.

As I have had the honor to be the Pastor of this great church family, I have seen the countless and thankless efforts that have gone into every service and every event that has ever taken place connected to this wonderful church and I have to say it has not gone unnoticed to me. I am proud of every person that has become part of this church family, and I am honored that each person has chosen to work alongside one another for this church family. I have seen times of victory, and I have also seen times of disappointment and what feels like defeat when something did not work out like you hoped it would. More importantly, I know that God has seen all this as well. To that end, I want to tell everyone who has had or will ever have a part in any service, any event connected to Coosa Valley Church of God Church Family … I want to tell you THANK YOU sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. I am glad that you took the time to work, to pray, to study, to read, to lead, to listen and just to be a part of one of the greatest church families that we have here at Coosa Valley. It will continue to be my honor to continue to be a small part of what God is doing through each one of you here at Coosa Valley and I am glad that you are a HUGE part of what God is doing here at Coosa Valley.

How do we support one another you might ask? How do we support the church and one another? One of the biggest and best ways in being in attendance, being present during each service time and event that you are able to. Yes all of our lives are busy, but let’s not allow the business keep us from supporting and encouraging one another as a part of the same church family together!

Again, please make sure you do not ever take something someone does for you here at OUR church for granted. NO this is not a guilt trip nor is this something to make someone feel bad, this is simply something on my heart and I also want to make sure YOU know you are appreciated for the work you do here at Coosa Valley Church of God. May God continue to bless you and our church family!
