•     Matthew 5:7 ““Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”

•     Perfection:

•     God is perfect

•     Psalm 18:30 “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

•     The sanctified is to be perfect

•     Deuteronomy 18:13 “You shall be blameless before the Lord your God,”

•     1 Peter 1:22 “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,”

•     Purity:

•     God is pure

•     Job 4:17 “‘Can mortal man be in the right before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?”

•     Holiness makes us pure

•     Matthew 5:8 ““Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

•     Righteousness:

•     God is righteous

•     Psalm 129:4 “The Lord is righteous; he has cut the cords of the wicked.”

•     The saints are righteous

•     Psalm 34:12 “What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good?”

•     Psalm 34:15 “The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.”

•     Holiness:

•     God is holy

•     Isaiah 6:1–3 “In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!””

•     His followers are to be holy

•     Ephesians 1:4 “even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love”

•     Not of This World:

•     Christ is not of this world

•     John 8:23 “He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.”

•     The sanctified are not of this world

•     John 15:19 “If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

•     Unity:

•     Christ and the Father are one

•     John 1:1–2 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.”

•     In Christ His people are united

•     Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
