He is a Wonderful Savior to Me
Sermon Outline for Sunday, December 12, 2021
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
God showed Isaiah about 700 years the coming of the Baby Jesus and he saw several things, but lets look at three of them:
• He saw a CRIB – “unto us a child is born”
• He saw a CROSS – “to us a Son is given”
• He saw a CROWN – “and the government shall be upon His shoulder”
But the question for us this morning, why did Isaiah call Jesus WONDERFUL?
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL HEART TO LOVE US
Christ said, “Greater love hath no man.”
Jesus’ love is —
• Unmerited
• Unselfish
• Unending
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL HAND TO KEEP US FROM SINKING
Matthew 14:29 ESV
He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
He caught Simon Peter before he wend down sinking.
His hand is –
• Soft
• Strong
• Secure.
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL EYE TO WATCH OVER US
“The eyes of the Lord go to and fro upon the earth.”
His eyes sees the –
• Hopeless
• Helpless
• Helper.
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL EAR TO HEAR US
“His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear.”
He hears –
• Our pleas
• Our praise
• Our promises
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL BOOK TO GUIDE US
“It is a lap unto our feet and a light unto our path.”
His Book –
• Blesses
• Burns
• Builds
JESUS HAS A WONDERFUL SPIRIT TO COMFORT US
“When the Comforter is come”
He gives –
• Power
• Praise
• Protection
JESUS IS BUILDING A WONDERFUL HOME FOR US
“I go to prepare a place for you.”
He is preparing a home of no –
• Sin
• Suffering
• Sorrow
