Baptism of the Holy Spirit (May 24, 2026)

•     This Baptism Promised by the Father

•     Luke 24:49 “And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.””

•     Promised Also by Christ

•     Acts 1:5 “for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.””

•     God’s Willingness to Give It

•     Luke 11:13 “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!””

•     Nature of This Baptism:

•     Comes as rushing winds - violently

•     Acts 2:1–3 “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.”

•     Comes as tongues of fire - purifying

•     The Effects of This Baptism:

•     Rivers of living water

•     John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’"

•     Power to testify

•     John 15:26 ““But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.”

•     Divine teaching for the soul

•     John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

•     Cleanses from all sin

•     Acts 15:8–9 “And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, and he made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith.”

•     Causes us to walk in God’s statutes

•     Ezekiel 36:27 “And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes ...”

•     Causes us to keep God’s commandments

•     Ezekiel 36:27 “And I will put my Spirit within you, ... and be careful to obey my rules.”
