Too Close to Midnight

Passages: 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Matthew 24:40–41; Joel 2:28–29; 2 Thessalonians 2:1–3; Matthew 24:10; 1 Timothy 4:1–2; 2 Timothy 4:3–4; Matthew 7:14

The Doomsday Clock, which is maintained by the “Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists”, is currently set at 85 seconds to midnight. This is the closest it has ever been to a hypothetical human-made global catastrophe. This clock is used to symbolize threats to humanity and midnight is Armageddon.

Why advance this clock to 11:58:45 PM? Expiring nuclear treaties, escalating arms races, unregulated tech such as Ai, global biological threats, etc.

If this list doesn’t wake us up … You need to know, God is getting ready to sound the trumpet and the rapture of the church is eminent.

There are a few scriptures that many will look at when talking about the rapture of the church.

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”

But what about this one ...

Matthew 24:40–41 “Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.”

We love this one ...

Joel 2:28–29 ““And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.”

But we really don’t stop to look at this one ...

2 Thessalonians 2:1–3 “Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,”

Or how about this one ...

Matthew 24:10 “And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.”

Or here is one more ...

1 Timothy 4:1–2 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,”

Or one of my favorite verses concerning the end times ...

2 Timothy 4:3–4 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

We must realize that the closer to the rapture of the church, the further the church body will move away from God. Sounds crazy right? Sounds like this can’t be right? But look at this verse ...

Matthew 7:14 “For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”

This is not to scare anyone into salvation, but urge you to look deep into your own soul. STOP and take a moment to allow the Holy Spirit to convict and change our lives, before it is too late. It is TOO CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT to give up now!
