Rules for a Holy Life (July 26, 2026)

•     Love harmony

1 Thessalonians 5:12–13 “We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”

•     Be patient

1 Thessalonians 5:14 “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.”

•     Be joyful

1 Thessalonians 5:16 “Rejoice always,”

•     Be careful of spirit

1 Thessalonians 5:19 “Do not quench the Spirit.”

•     Be prayerful

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing,”

•     Hold to the good

1 Thessalonians 5:21 “but test everything; hold fast what is good.”

•     Avoid the appearance of evil

1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from every form of evil.”

•     Be blameless

1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

•     Deny yourself

Luke 9:23 “And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

•     Love the brethren

1 John 3:14 “We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.”

•     Give preference to others

Romans 12:10 “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

•     Seek to please the Lord

Hebrews 13:21 “equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
